Downtown or a resort stay?
Fifth Avenue is a pedestrian centre for restaurants, shops and evening outings. If walking out of your hotel is part of your plan, check the actual address. Resorts marketed under Playa del Carmen may sit outside the central area, where getting into town takes a separate journey.
Connecting to Cozumel
The passenger ferry departs from Playa del Carmen. A ride from Cancun Airport gets you to the mainland terminal; the sea crossing is separate. Check the sailing you intend to take and allow time between landing, baggage collection, the road journey and boarding.
Plan your hotel arrival
Some central streets are pedestrian areas. Ask your accommodation which entrance or nearby point it uses for luggage drop-off. For Playacar and gated resorts, keep the property name available so the correct entrance can be identified.
Keep day trips comfortable
For a day that combines the beach, a cenote or a park, pack a change of clothes and check each venue's requirements. Keep the afternoon flexible in rainy months. If your return includes an airport flight, plan the hotel pickup around the flight rather than fitting it between activities.
